Frequently Asked Questions…
Here are some frequently asked questions and terms…
What happens if it’s raining? Sometimes the best sunsets happen with cloudy skies. Usually, my clients and I have not had to cancel a shoot because of rain. If no photo shoot takes place, you are not obligated to pay anything. Normally, we wait for the rain to clear and we go ahead and shoot. Rainy days can have some gorgeous sunsets but if you decide to cancel, there is no loss to you. It is always better to book, show up and then see how the evening turns out. You can also postpone at no additional cost.
Do you have a travel fee? A travel fee applies to shoots in North Side and East End.
Will you assist with posing during the shoot? Of course.
What’s the best time of day for a shoot? I mainly do photoshoots at sunset (around 5-6pm) or on mornings (8-9 am). Sunrise is also an option (6am - 7am). These are approximate times and they will vary based on seasons.
Which locations do you recommend for a photoshoot? Many clients opt for the beachfront at their hotel or villa, but other locations include Cemetery Beach, Smith’s Cove/Smith’s Barcadere, Pedro Castle, Camana Bay, Spotts Beach, The Botanic Park, Cayman Kai and Rum Point. There is a travel fee for travel to East End and North Side.
How will I receive the images? All images are delivered digitally as edited jpgs (not RAW) via an online album. After the shoot, I will send you the images taken for you to select the ones you would like to have edited according to your package. You will also receive the final edited images through the album and they will be downloadable from this album. Once you confirm the images you would like to have edited within three months, I guarantee a full refund in the rare but possible event of technical failure or loss up until the edited images are provided.
When will I receive the final edits? Though efforts are made to deliver sooner, the editing process can take 2 to 3 or up to 4 weeks during busy season. If you have a strict deadline for supplying images to news outlets, magazines, conferences, or needing it for announcements, please let me know in advance so I can prioritize accordingly. I kindly ask that you select your images promptly to avoid any delays in your edit. Once you've confirmed your edits, I'll be able to put you in queue and provide and estimated due date.
What is included in your editing process? My typical edit includes: cropping and straightening the image, removing people or objects in the background (e.g., litter, buoys), reducing shine (aka sweat) on the skin, lessen the appearance of obvious and temporary aspects of your appearance (cuts/scrapes, sunburn, pimples etc,) enhancing colours and tones in landscapes and subjects and correcting minor imperfections in clothing (e.g. missing button). The goal is to create a polished final image that highlights clients love, happiness and having special moments.
Can you alter my (insert body feature)? I celebrate and appreciate your natural beauty and focus on capturing happy moments. My editing does not alter body types and natural features. Let me know if you feel sensitive about a feature before the shoot. I will point out other details e.g. hairbands on wrists, objects in pockets, lipstick on your teeth, babies eating sand etc to take care of others details. You can also get a make up artist for a hairstylist appointment to add to your ‘look’ for the Photoshoot.
Can I get the RAW images?/What about copyright? As a photographer, my work is an art form, and RAW images are not provided. While I maintain the copyright of my work, clients are licensed to print and share edited images for personal use only. Resale of images is prohibited unless otherwise agreed to.
When will we hear from you? I typically respond to inquiries on the same day or within 48 hours. My office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with most photoshoots scheduled outside these times, but I will of course respond outside of typical hours as needed. Please note that every photographer and small business owner will be subject to the same types of disruptions to business – hurricane and storm warnings or occasionally illness and technical delays. Overall, we make every effort to minimise disruptions to clients, but they do occur.
What should we wear for the photoshoot? Neutral tones and shades of blue, green, tan, and white are popular choices. Colourful choices can also look great: mixes of blues, pinks, reds, yellows, salmon etc. Ultimately, you should wear something that makes you feel confident as your happiness is the best thing you can wear.
Can we order prints through you after the photoshoot? Yes. I can arrange printing. If you decide to print images, please note that printers vary in quality, colour profiles, equipment and cost and can produce varying outcomes different from the edit you receive. Drug store and kiosk machines are not the same as a professional printing service, which I am happy to arrange.
